I am bugging the heck out of corporate life and getting ready to spend some serious time chilling out.
I am going to be comfortable and look good doing it.
I need someplace to park my butt.
Part of the Operation Sunflower Garden project is going to require some outdoor seating arrangements. I started out looking at hanging chairs or a traditional hammock and put together my list of the Ten Best Outdoor Hanging Chairs with Stands.
When I was putting that list together I saw an option that got me thinking about something different. One of the hanging chairs that I liked was a suspended chaise lounge. I figured that if I liked a hanging lounger then I ought to spend a little time digging into more traditional outdoor chaise lounge chairs and see if I could turn up some other interesting options.
Most of what I found would work great on a patio or by a pool but I am don’t think that I will get these for the Sunflower Garden.
All the same, I thought I could share the best options that I found and save you a little bit of research. So, whether you are looking for an affordable chair for sunning by the pool or something elegant for relaxing on your patio, there is something for everyone on this list!
Ten Best Outdoor Chaise Lounges for the Pool or Patio
The double lounger with a sunshade and the classic wooden lounger are my two favorites out of this list. Which one sparks your interest the most?
Double Chaise Lounge with Canopy: For the Kids!
Overall Dimensions: 36.5”(L) x 33.4”(W) x 35.1”(H)
This is a SMALL lounger that is designed for kids and they will love this adorable set. The weather-resistant wood structure comes complete with cup holders in the center of the two padded seats.
A cotton canopy will keep the sun off of your kiddos while they lounge on the patio or near the pool. I love that this lounger is lightweight so you can move it around the yard or patio as needed.
The backs of the seats on this one are stationary, so you won’t be able to lay them down, but the seats still look comfortable.
Double Chaise Lounge with Sun Shade: Snuggle in the Shade!
Overall Dimensions: 67”(L) x 23”(W) x 5”(H)
This hammock-like chaise lounge is ideal for reading and relaxing without the heat of the sun against you. It comes standard with two small built in pillows to add extra comfort, and wheels to make it simple to move.
This lounger has a weight capacity of 500 pounds and plenty of room for two people.
The weather resistant fabric means you won’t have to fuss with a cover for this chair regardless of the weather. The tubular steel stand is coated so as to ensure it will resist rust and wear and tear for years to come.
In general the reviews for this lounger are pretty solid. It sounds like it is a booger to put this together but once its done folks love it.
Sonoma Pool Lounger: Float, Baby, Float!
Overall Dimensions: 66.5”(L) x 25”(W) x 24”(H)
I came across this one and while it would be a horrible fit for my garden I went ahead and included it because it would be a GREAT fit for someone looking for a pool lounger. I like this one because it isn’t just for by the pool, but it can be used in the pool as well! The durable and rustproof chair looks easy to clean and maintain. It is also foldable for storage, so it won’t take up much space when not in use.
After reading all of the reviews, the chairs are seen as comfortable for floating or sunbathing, although not great ledge loungers as they float too easily.
Ostrich Sunning Lounger: Stick Your Head in It!
Overall Dimensions: 72”(L) x 22”(W) x 12”(H)
Here is another one that wouldn’t work in the garden…at least not my garden….but would be great at the pool. This sunning lounger is built for comfort while you sunbathe. It is lightweight for easy portability but can hold up to 250 lbs. making it an excellent chair for many shapes and sizes.
It has a breathable face rest and armholes for lying on your stomach so that you have full access to read under the chair. When lying on your back, the face rest cover becomes a pillow for added comfort. I thought it was king of neat 🙂
Reclining Sunbathing Chairs (Two-Pack): Value Buddies!
Overall Dimensions: 71”(L) x 25.25”(W) x 34.25”(H)
Here is another great option for you folks looking for pool chairs. These chairs come in three vibrant colors, perfect for any pool or patio. The standard pillow and strong base add comfort and durability. The chairs are made from weather resistant fabric that breathes so you won’t feel overheated in the summer sun.
I love the modern look of this chair, and that the chairs are stackable for quick and easy storage. The backrest on this chaise lounge is adjustable. You’re sure to find your comfortable spot in one of these chairs.
Chaise Lounge Hammock Bed (Single): Swinging Solo!
Overall Dimensions: 78.7”(L) x 39”(W) x 12.6”(H)
Ok…now we are back to some options that are “garden worthy” 🙂 This is the single person version of the hammock lounger from earlier in this list. The adjustable sunshade on this lounger is a really nice touch. Just like the larger version, this chaise lounge comes with a built in pillow and has wheels for smooth movement.
The base of the lounger is made of breathable material and is light. It feels more like a hammock than a chaise.
Adjustable Wicker Chaise Lounge: The Classic Look!
Overall Dimensions: 77.5”(L) x 26”(W) x 14”(H)
This wicker chaise lounge comes with a water-resistant cushion to ensure durability poolside or in the event of a surprise water balloon fight. It is one of few chairs that come almost fully assembled. You need only add the legs.
After reading the reviews it looks like this is a sturdy lounger, but the cushions might be thinner than some folks hoped. Still, the price is right, and these chairs seem like great options for catching some rays on the patio.
Outdoor Wicker Chaise Lounge with Arms (Twin Set): Classic With A Friend!
Overall Dimensions: 79.25”(L) x 27.5”(W) x 15”(H)
The fact that these chairs are sold in pairs of two is already a win, but the comfort that they appear to provide is even better. The wicker chaise lounges do have attachable cushions, but they are sold separately.
These chairs are reviewed as some of the best out there. Reviewers say they are comfortable with or without cushions. The assembly process seems to require at least two people, but the process is simple if you have a partner.
Christopher Knight Patio Chaise Lounge: Now That is Elegant!
Overall Dimensions: 79.2”(L) x 27.5”(W) x 15”(H)
The Christopher Knight Home collection has some high quality items and this lounger is no exception.
These chairs curve to the shape of your body, even when laid flat, for the best possible support. The legs are also foldable so that the chairs become stackable for easy storage.
You can purchase this chair with or without cushions, but reviewers claim that comfort exists either way. They have a modern style to them that few other chairs can match. These chairs will look great on a patio, but some of their parts may rust easily poolside.
Wood Patio Lounger: Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This!
Overall Dimensions: 78.7”(L) x 26.8”(W) x 11.8”(H)
This is the one chaise lounger that I seriously considered for our garden. I think it is pretty and would nicely blend into our little woods. I like that there are not any cushions or fabrics that are going to rot or get covered in mildew. Low maintenance is a big deal for me.
I am not sure that I would get this lounger for use at a pool. The wood material is coated with natural oils to make it water resistant, but it might not stand up to pool chemicals quite so well.
This lounger has two large wheels for simple movement and is very versatile as well since both the backrest and footrest are adjustable. You can set this chair to your exact comfort specifications so go ahead and dial in “Ultimate Relaxation” 🙂
There are so many designs, styles, and colors of chaise loungers on the market! Sometimes it’s hard to know what to look for to make the best possible decision for your pool, patio or garden. Here are some things to look for if you’re in the market for a new lounger:
Outdoor furniture is a tough one because it needs to stand up to the elements while maintaining the style and sophistication you want in your outdoor space.
Material selection is especially important if you have a pool since you’ll need something that can not only stand up to the elements but can also stand up to all the chemicals in your pool.
If you are looking for a pool lounger then get one that is plastic or has an aluminum frame. An aluminum frame is much more resistant to corrosion than tubular steel.
Size and Space
This one is pretty obvious, but it’s important enough to mention. Make sure that you have enough space for your chaise lounge to be laid out flat without your face or feet directly in another piece of furniture on your patio. Comfort is the goal with these, and space is a big part of that.
You’ll also want to ensure your lounger will fit you and your guests. If you and your friends or family members are quite tall, you’ll want to make sure your lounger size reflects that for maximum comfort.
Storage and Portability
When it comes to outdoor furnishings storage is critical, especially if you live in a climate where it isn’t warm all year. Looking for products that stack together or fold to fit into a smaller space is essential.
Along with storage comes portability. If your chairs are stackable, but weigh 80 lbs plus and have no wheels, then the stacking is no use. If you live in a primarily warm climate and can purchase a cover to fit over a large stack, however, you may be in the clear.
There is a chaise lounge for everyone on this list. Personally, I love the Wood Patio Lounger for its beauty versatility in movement. If I had to choose a poolside option, though, I’d go for the Ostrich Sunning Lounger. It has tons of great features for all of your comfort and sunbathing needs.
